Senggigi FAQ

How is Senggigi different from the Kuta surf spots?

Senggigi offers a more urban and comfortable vibe. Unlike the rugged south coast, here you can surf and then walk straight into a luxury resort, a supermarket, or an international restaurant.

Is Senggigi good for beginners?

It can be on small days, but it is primarily an intermediate spot. The wave breaks over a reef, and while it is generally “rolling” and mellow, it requires some board control.

When is the best season to surf Senggigi?

Being on the West Coast, Senggigi works best when the southern spots are too big or windy, or during large SW swells. It is a fantastic “Plan B” when Kuta is blown out.

What else is there to do besides surf?

Senggigi is Lombok’s original tourist hub. It’s a great base for organizing diving trips, snorkeling in the Gili Islands, or hiking Mount Rinjani. The nightlife is also more developed here than in rural areas.

Where exactly is it?

It is located on the West Coast, just a short drive from the capital, Mataram. It’s about 1 to 1.5 hours from the airport or Kuta Lombok.
